Let’s be real here, every girl has wished for that one guy to show up on his stunning white horse; looking like a dream come true, like our prince charming. Sometimes we think we’ve found him and look past all those flaws that may not matter now but could later on. Don’t get me wrong, everyone has flaws but ‘love’ tends to blind us from very important details.
Something my mother taught me at a young age was that love starts as a feeling but it’s really a promise!
I’m not writing this to crush your dreams or call you out for being a hopeless romantic. All I want to say is God will send him when you are both ready, not when you are lonely. Some of my friends and I won’t say who, fall for the first guy they come in contact with. He seems to fit their criteria and look pretty cute but that’s not all there is to finding the right guy.
Some people aren’t open books, they only let you see what they want you to see. He might seem like this dream come true or a knight in shining armor but he is still human. He’s not perfect just like everyone else. I write this because of a lot of people very close to me don’t see his flaws, they don’t see the little details.
They just crave what those other girls have and end up getting stuck. They get married and feel lost because finding the first boy you see that seems like a fit isn’t the solution.
Once upon a time, I craved what my friends had. The cute relationship things they got to do together. The movie dates to the cuddling. I wanted a relationship so much that I let my friend convince me to talk to one of her friends. We talked and I kept telling myself that it was okay because I wanted what she had, a prince charming.
I ended up realizing how stupid I was being and ended up breaking whatever that was off. In the end, I only led him on and I got to look like an idiot. Especially when I told him the reason why I didn’t want to date him. Poor guy…
The truth is, the right guy will come. In the meantime, become the best person you can be. Prepare for the world and study God’s word. Do what brings you joy and pray about everything.
So here’s to finding your prince charming God’s way! I found mine #married
“Love is patient. Love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud, it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong, love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves. Love never fails.”
